Levels of Intervention Open to Every Member

Protection at BigGerz works in five levels, and a member may move to any of them at any time. The first level asks only for attention; the last closes the account. Nobody should play with money needed for rent, bills, food or debt repayment, and every level below assumes that play is paid entertainment for adults.

1. Level one: noticing the signs

1.1 Signs that play is becoming a problem

If two or more of the following are true, we recommend moving to the next level.

  • You play for longer than you planned.
  • You deposit again to recover a loss.
  • You hide play from family or friends.
  • You borrow money to play.
  • Play affects your sleep, work or relationships.
  • You feel irritable when you cannot play.

1.2 A monthly look at your own play

Once a month, look at the transaction history in the cashier and compare it with the budget you set. If the same reason for extra deposits appears twice, such as stress or a wish to recover a loss, play is serving a purpose other than entertainment.

1.3 What to do on noticing

Noticing a sign is not a failure. It is the point at which a member can still choose among the remaining levels without any pressure from us. Write down which sign you noticed and on which date, since a written note is harder to dismiss later than a passing thought.

2. Level two: a plan and limits

2.1 Three decisions before a session

Set a budget, a time and a stop point, and write them down. The budget is the amount you can lose without hardship; the time is the length of a session; the stop point is the loss at which you end it.

2.2 Limits on the account

Limits are set in the account through live chat or at [email protected], and any later change follows the account rules. The best time to ask is before the limit is needed.

2.3 After a losing session

  1. Stop playing when the stop point is reached.
  2. Make no further deposit in order to recover the loss.
  3. Close the casino and leave the device for at least an hour.
  4. Take no decision about further play on the same day.

2.4 Changing a limit

A member who wants to change a limit writes to support, and the change follows the rules of the account. We suggest waiting a day before asking, so that the request is made calmly and not in the middle of a session.

3. Level three: a break

3.1 What a break is

A break is a period, such as a day, a week or a month, during which the account cannot be used. It is not a penalty. Members use it after a sequence of losses or when other matters need attention.

3.2 How to request one

Ask support for the length you want. We confirm in writing.

4. Level four: self-exclusion

4.1 What happens

Self-exclusion is a longer closure of the account. We close the account, stop marketing and do not reopen it before the period ends.

4.2 Steps

  1. Write to support and say that you want self-exclusion.
  2. State the period.
  3. We confirm in writing and close the account.
  4. Marketing messages stop.

4.3 Beyond our casino

Because we cannot control other operators, UK members may also use GamStop, the national self-exclusion service, to cover all licensed online operators in Great Britain. Blocking software on your phone and computer, and a gambling block offered by your bank, add barriers outside the casino.

5. Level five: independent help

5.1 Services

Free, confidential support does not require you to have an account with us.

5.2 Emergencies

If you are in distress or at risk of harm, contact emergency services or your doctor.

5.3 Concern about another person

Speak to the person directly and without blame. Do not lend money for gambling or pay debts for them without advice. The National Gambling Helpline also supports relatives. We cannot discuss another person’s account, but we can pass on a request for a break or exclusion if the account holder makes it.

6. Level five, continued: barriers on your own devices

6.1 Time reminders

Phone alarms and screen-time tools show how long a session has lasted. Setting an alarm before the session starts is more reliable than relying on judgement during play.

6.2 Payment barriers

A wallet that is not funded cannot be used for a deposit. Members who notice the urge to deposit can keep only a small amount in the wallet they use for play, and keep savings elsewhere.

6.3 Notifications

Switch off notifications from gambling services while you are on a break, and remove the home screen shortcut of the casino if it prompts you to return.

7. Under 18s and privacy

7.1 Age limit

Persons under 18 may not use the casino. If you share a device with a young person, keep your login private and use parental controls.

7.2 Confidentiality

A request for a limit, break or exclusion is handled confidentially and is used only to apply your request.
